Recently I've been shopping for a dress to wear to my brother's wedding.
My dream dress was actually those puffy puffy tube dress
Something like:
Maybe something like the pink one and the bottom that puff in like the one on the right. I don't know, something along that line. Yeah but one, too fat! two, seems too glamorous. Okay I hardly attend weddings, but I don't think people wear so glamorously, do they? When do people ever get the chance to wear something like that in Singapore. Actually I think besides your own wedding, prom is the only time to wear nice nice nice dresses (which I didn't, I got an expensive not glamorous dress.) During prom, everyone is the main lead so there's no such thing as too glamorous.
So anyway, sometimes when I think about work dress, casual dress, formal dress (for weddings). How do we actually differentiate them? I think it becomes harder and harder to differentiate them nowadays. The difference is only maybe that work dress are more structured/stiff? as compared to relatively casual ones and maybe the material. As people dress up so nicely to work now, it becomes harder to draw the line between the different kinds of dresses. Dresses are so multi-functional now, like the blog dresses now, they can be worn to work and worn to town and can even to be worn to more formal places.
I feel so dumb being confused over all these dresses.
I think the only chance when I can wear so glamorously is when I get married.
So I must 1) slim down and 2) 把自己嫁出去!

我要钱
So disappointing. The prof supposedly said that she will let us work 3-5 days at least in the month of july but the july rooster just came out and working only 2 days per week. In june we only worked like 1 day a week cause she said that MCYS cannot pull out the files fast enough for us, I feel so sian even though the pay for this job is relatively high, because I feel like I could have gotten a full time temp job and earn more money because I seriously need money. I have so many things I need and want to buy and even if I don't buy anything, just spending on food is already alot of money!
Today was a ma-la day out with Karen, more about that in the next post! Time to sleep. Finally today seems like a windy day, hopefully it stays like that and I won't wake up sweating.

Book & Drama
I finished reading "Mummy told me not tell" today and I also finished watching rooftop prince which was leftover from long ago. Watched ep 17-20 today.
The boy in the story, Reece, was really so sweet. Even in between his aggressive and improper sexual behaviours, he's really a very sweet and nice boy. It's just shows that no kid in this world is born bad (I'm refering to their nature/character, not intellectual. I'm one who believes that nature plays a role in intellectual performance), it's the environment that make people bad. Even if there's really such a thing as being born bad, I believe the environment really does help change the person for the better. I really hope one day I can I'll be able to that too. :) Feel like borrowing more books by Cathy Glass but they're hard to borrow cause they're so popular, maybe I should reserve them.
Rooftop prince was not bad. I prefer the episodes earlier on though cause they were more humourous while the scenes behind were more of dealing with the bad deeds that Tae Moo and Se Na and about the prince and his 3 musketeers going back to the Joseon dynasty so there's more emotional scenes rather than humourous scenes.

Reading
The weather is really BAD! I feel so uncomfortable and giddy from the heat.
I spent most of my day reading today. In the morning was supposed to go to the girl's family to give jia zhuang? and li bing but because the stuff totally filled up the whole car there was no space for me sit so I just went back home to sleep and woke up at 1 plus. I'm still feeling so tired now.
Went to the library to borrow books yesterday. It has been a long time since I last borrowed books. My card had to be verified but I think it's because I signed up for passion card so with passion card you can borrow 8 books, but seriously who borrows so many books? Plus there the loan quota is doubled from 26 May to 31 July, so I can borrow like 16 books now.
It has been a long time since I last read. I think the last time I read a book for enjoyment was last December? Currently reading "Mummy told me not to tell" by Cathy Glass, I'm more than half done with the book and my eyes are feeling so tired now. The author is a foster carer and she has written a series of books usually depicting her foster kids. I really really really enjoy reading this kind of books. I used to read books by Torey Hayden. I think reading these books are really part of the reason why I chose to study psychology. I really hope one day I can help change and improve the lives of the children too.
Second last episode for Absolute Boyfriend today! :(

醉後決定愛上你
3 days and I finished watching 醉後決定愛上你. I watched 1 and a half episode on channel U tuesday and wednesday and went to youtube to watch. Instant addict! I just finished, 18 episodes. I didn't watch the first episode though because I agar know how they met already.
I'm not really picky when it comes to show and I will say that almost every show is nice. I really think xiao gui's acting in this show is so much better than his acting in the movie with michelle chong. Either that or he's given more opportunity to display his acting skills in this drama.
However, I feel quite blehx at at episode 17 where because of what 杰修 said to aiwei (even though he didn't mean it and didn't want xiao ru to hear him),xiao ru wanted to leave him so that he won't be miserable. Seriously, if you're the one who caused the girl who leave, then don't fucking cry when she leaves, even if you didn't mean it. Okay although I can understand that he didn't mean to feel like that but still I feel so bad for her.
Actually does drama really shows that love is so wonderful and everlasting. I think no. Usually at the beginning of dramas, the male lead will always be so in love with this 2nd female lead, but somehow within a few days, he's suddenly in love with the 1st female lead. Love is so ever changing!
Today my brother's bed came. So my father got kick out of his room. They treated my room as their rubbish dump and threw everything in my room. However, they're all cleared now. 2 and a half more weeks!

New Phone!
Today morning my father's new toy came!
No time to play with it yet cause still charging the photo.
Singtel really irritates me alot!
1) The fact that they decrease the data usuage from 12GB to 2GB really pisses me off, it's like a more than 83% decrease. Not as if they decrease their plan price by 83%. Don't give me the bullshit about faster internet connection.
2) They had this I.T show promotion online together with the IT show. So when I tried to order it for my papa from their website last week, they kept telling me they cannot carry out the action so my brother wrote in an email to complain and they called my father and he got the phone.
3) Since they said it a freaking I.T show promotion, shouldn't it be cheaper. Now one week later, the phone only cost $388 (if you include the lunchtime/wednesday/9-9 promotion), which is $10 cheaper than the IT show price. Even though it's only 10 bucks still piss me off.
4) In the promotion, there's suppose to be a free phone casing, SO WHERE'S THE FREE PHONE CASING!
Today I was looking at the date and OMFG my brother's wedding is just 3 weeks away!!!

Happy Father's Day!
My brother just bought a new vacumn cleaner, so now my house has 3 vacumn cleaners.
Tomorrow is Father's Day! Just came back from father's day dinner at Mouth Restaurant at City Square Mall.
My family is very conservative, we don't show our love by saying 'I love you' or giving hugs & kisses, but I know my father loves me alot and I love him alot too.
My father and I share quite a close relationship and sometimes before he sleeps, I will go to his room and talk/disturb him until I get thrown out of the room (I wonder when did I started having this habit?). Last time, my father and I used to gather in front of the tv to watch ghost whisperer and Incredible tales. We still do that sometimes now (just watched incredible tales and the eye last week), I love watching ghost stories with him around cause it gives me strength. If we find a drama we both like on tv, we will watch it together too (usually it's the 7pm shows which we watch while eating dinner). It's funny watching my dad addicted a drama cause he will rush home and be like “做了做了,快点开电视!”. Now we're watching xi you ji which is showing on channel 8 (for some reason I just have a liking for sun wukong).Something happened a few years ago which has made me more appreciative and thankful for him.
Of course, we still have our fair share of arguments.
My father always amazes me. He always selfless, giving the best to his family with whatever limited capabilities he has. It's amazing how my father can provide my grandparents with 1.1k allowance, provide me with allowance, pay for my school fees, pay for the house loan, pay for the phone bills, pay for the electricity bill and pay for all the other stuffs like groceries. When ever I ask him how he managed to do that, he's always telling me he's spending on the family yet saving on himself. :') I really really really think it's not easy.
He's always encouraging me to do more volunteer work and he's always saying that it's good to be able to help others. He also encourages me to be more da fang and he used to tell me "被人家占便宜就是占人家便宜。"
He is always able to read my mind. He knows what is on my mind. Like when I say I have news for him, sometimes he will be able to guess what's the news. Like recently during this holiday, I broke the iron and when he came back I told him 'I got bad news for you.' Then he ask ' why you always have bad news. Bad news don't tell me.' and after I insisted I need to tell he said 'you broke the iron ah'. Amazing!
Though sometimes he forces his idea on me but he doesn't always force his idea me. After O-levels I did think of getting in poly (I wanted to optometry) but my father wanted and insisted I go to JC. Oh yeah, I couldn't get into optometry even if I wanted to anyway. I'm glad I did though, because it allowed me to be where I am today, studying Psychology, because if I took the poly route I'm quite sure I wouldn't be able to get into NUS today. I knew my father didn't like me studying psychology, he would have preferred me to study in Science, but he didn't force this idea onto me because he says I'm the one studying not him. He gives me choices and he likes me to have my own thinking, to be independent. I know he is very worried about me because sometimes I still act like a kid and he's also worried about me entering the workforce because I do things so slowly.
I love my papa alot alot alot!!! <3<3<3

MIB3
The thought that this is my last 3 months holiday makes me sad :(. Really cannot imagine entering the real working world. I'm seriously worried about going for job interview.
Met Eunice on Wednesday to watch MIB3. It has been a long time since I last saw her. I LIKE MIB3! Love the humour in the movie. Love Agent k, love will smith character, Agent J. Love MIB3. It's kind of sad to know that one's life experience can result in a change in person's personality/character. I just don't understand so did K actually knew that J went back in time to save his life? This time travelling thing is kind of complicated.
J: K!
K: How do you know my name?
J: I call all guys K.
To Agent O.
J: O! I call all girls O!
So when you see a guy and a girl you go OK!

Less than one more month till my brother's wedding and I haven't bought anytime yet.

Day out with eommas
Met Muihong at city hall yesterday. Can't remember the last time I
actually stopped at City Hall mrt. Went to Citylink Mall for lunch and
Marina Square for movie. My first time at Citylink Mall and Marina
Square (I may/may not have walked past there but definitely not
shopped/ate/watched a movie there before I think). I hardly explore
Singapore.
Went to TCC for lunch.
They're having 1-for-1 for main courses and pastas!!!
It has a tomato cream base that is nice. I don't like the red tomato
spaghetti sauce but this is nice. Good for people who doesn't like the
red tomato spaghetti sauce and doesn't like carbonara creamy sauce. The
wasabi roe gives the whole spaghetti a special taste. The prices of food
at TCC aren't cheap though, not for a poor kid like me.
Went to watch Prometheus.
The movie is not bad, unexpected and keeps people guessing throughout the movie. Some parts of the movie are quite gross like when the guy turned into an 'alien?' and when the female lead aborted this 'alien' baby in her stomach. I didn't fully comprehend the movie, like I don't understand why the robot wanted to spike the drink. Too many questions left hanging at the end of the movie, like so who is this creator that they have been looking for and why after creating humans he/they wanted us dead. I don't think this movie is against 'religion' because at the end of the movie, she still chose to wear the cross which shows that despite the evidence of this 'creator', she still chose to believe in god.
Met Zhi Hui at esplanade mrt and it's time to chill.
Went to Durty Nelly's, an Irish pub, at marina square.
I can only say, the prawns were very fresh. Maybe it's the kind of pasta they used, there were no more Linguini so they used Fettucini and it just felt weird eating Aglio Olio with Fettucini.
I drank one bottle, muihong and zhihui each drank 2 bottles.
Now you know who are the jiu guis here.
The overall experience was good. Chill and you just gossip about how boys are jerks. Listen to other people's conversation and come to the conclusion that the person is just lying to boost his ego.
While we were outside camwhoring, saw this group of teenagers celebrating one of their birthday. They made him wear a googles that blocked his view and made him walk and do weird things i guess? Looks fun! The joy of being young.
I hate blogger, the alignment of the posts with pictures keeps getting screwed and I have to keep previewing to make sure the alignment looks okay. Sometimes when I'm writing the caption and I press enter they just bring me to the end of line not to the next line and it can't go to the next line. What is wrong!

Food Tasting
I have no inspiration and I don't want to blog about Hong Kong yet, so let's talk about food tasting last friday.
Went for food tasting at Holiday Inn.
I was about one hour early, at first I was considering walking there from Outram but when I was at the bus stop the bus came so I felt that it was a sign for me to not walk.
So how did I spend my time?
Doing bo liao stuff like taking my own pictures.
I didn't take photos of the food because it will be damn awkward if I prevent everyone from eating just so I can take pictures, plus the people from my brother's gf side I don't really know/I don't know them.
The first few dishes were yummy!
My favourite was the cold platter? Yummy!
Then we had a bird nest soup which looks like shark fin soup. They no longer sell shark fin, which is a good thing, but they managed to make the bird nest soup looks like shark fin soup where I even added pepper and vinegar to it.
Roasted? Chicken. Kind of dry to me, but the aunties and uncles said it's nice so i guess it's nice?
Vinegar Prawn. A good thing about this prawns is that we don't have to shell the prawns! Unlike other types of prawns like cereal prawn.
Steamed Fish. No comments. I don't like fish.
Abalone mushroom lettuce. Mediocre tasting.
Glutinous Rice. Not bad cause everyone was raving how the taste is not bad.
Dessert. My brother's girlfriend ordered Oneh? A yam paste? kind of dessert. I think I'm one of the few people who didn't like it, or maybe I was too full for a dessert that is so sticky and niam niam.
If the standard of the food doesn't change on wedding day, I guess the food there is considered good especially for wedding banquet food. Wakaka and I'll be sitting at the VIP people with everyone I know so no need paiseh and I can eat all the food!

Grin Affair
Had an impromptu meeting with zhi hui.
Went to Grin Affair near outram mrt.
Cause Zhi Hui told me cafe so I was expecting tables and chairs with drinks so I was kind of shocked that they don't provide tables only one row of chairs at the side of the shop. However, Zhi Hui said maybe they do provide tables during peak hours, so I'm not sure.
The shop is small but nicely decorated and some of the decorations there reminds of Korea, those cute woodcraft kind of decorations.
I had dark chocolate while Zhi Hui had cookies and cream.
"cookies 'n' cream. it was not bad, kinda like the crumble on top!" - ZH facebook
Ever since last year I tasted dark chocolate from Hersey's, I became a fan of dark chcolate. The Dark chocolate was topped with sea salt dulce de leche (caramel) and chocolate ganache dome (the piece of circle chocolate). The taste was just very average to me. It doesn't taste anything special and so it doesn't have me craving for more. Good for people who doesn't like very sweet stuff. I don't really like the chocolate ganache dome on top or maybe I was expecting more of it cause I was saving it for the last.
The place offers a interesting concept, where they serve cakes in jars, but mediocre taste (to me). Maybe it's just the flavour I chose because the jars with fruits were really popular, I hear many people ordering them and one of the flavour (think mango?) was already out of stock.
You can collect tickets when you buy the jars and returns the jars and 20 of the tickets for a jar of cranberry. I think it's only applicable for take-away though cause we didn't get them :(. They only provide carriers if you purchase a certain number of jars. However, their take-aways are really cute, they attach a rope-like thing to the cover for you to carry them.
Was super early after that cause I had food tasting at 6.30pm so was looking for a place to chill. We went irish cafe at SGH there to chill cause there weren't many choices. The cappuccino there is really bitter!

Comparison
Why do people like to compare and compete with each? Is it a natural instinct that we have which came from evolution to make us strive better and become stronger in order to survive in this world?
There's more than 101 things that humans can compare.
Atheletic ability
Wealth
Results
School
Salary
Looks
Popularity
...
We can never ever be satisfied if we're always comparing because no matter how rich, how smart or how pretty, there will always be someone out there in the world who is richer, smarter and prettier. Comparison not only makes someone constantly unsatisfied and unhappy, it also results in a unbalance mindset where you always feel that you're not good enough, it also hurts relationships which results in the suffering of the physical and mental health.
Everyone must have been exposed to some kind of comparison in this cruel world. People comparing with others, especially relatives. Not all comparison comes from other people comparing you with others, but also from I comparing myself with others. It's really not a good feeling, cause it really really really makes you feel inferior.
Maybe certain amount of comparison is good as it acts as a source of motivation but too much of it is really detrimental. I wonder if one day I can really be genuinely satisfied with the person that I am and the things that I have. 因为要知足能才能尝乐。

Wild Honey
화요일
Last wednesday, met Raymond, Boon Loong, Muihong and 2 of Raymond's Singaporean friends for lunch.
We went to Wild Honey at Mandarin Gallery which serves breakfast all days and they serve all kinds of breakfasts from English to Japanese. So when we went in we were all blur, don't know what to do cause only Muihong went there before. You actually have to go to the counter to order your food and they have ipads to show you pictures of the different breakfasts.
I had English Breakfast. The serving is huge. Mega huge that even a glutton like me only finished about I think half of it and Raymond also finished about only half of it I think. However, there are people who managed to finished it so I'm not sure if it's because it's too huge and I can't finish it or it's not nice.
The taste is below expectation. I don't like their bread but I heard it's expensive bread cause it cost like $9 per loaf. The bacon was too salty, or was I suppose to eat it with the bread? I don't know, not good with breakfast. The scrambled egg was kind of tasteless, it will taste better with pepper. Not sure if there's pepper provided on the table/ provided, there were people I'm not familiar with so being shy I didn't look for pepper and just ate my food. So I'm not sure if the food there is really not very nice or because I'm not someone who enjoys eating breakfast, especially bread.
It's a good place to chill though. Nice ambience.
We continued on to cold stone to eat ice-cream and chill after that. (Surprisingly no one took photos of the ice-cream). We ate chocolate devotion and berry berry berry good. I prefer berry berry berry good cause chocolate devotion taste very chocolaty so I'll get sick of the taste easily.
This is the first time I'm posting pictures on the new blogger format and I hate it (except maybe the caption function). Also, why does Singapore blogspot webs now ends with .sg?
